Question 1 · choose 1

A company must keep scanned legal records for ten years. The files are read less than once a year, the records cannot be re-created if lost, and a retrieval time of several hours is acceptable. Which Amazon S3 storage class is designed for this access pattern?

  1. AS3 Standard-IA
  2. BS3 Intelligent-Tiering
  3. CS3 One Zone-IA
  4. DS3 Glacier Deep Archive
Show the answer and why
  • AS3 Standard-IA

    Incorrect

Standard-IA is for long-lived data accessed about once a month that still needs millisecond access. These records are read less than once a year and can wait hours.

  • BS3 Intelligent-Tiering

    Incorrect

Intelligent-Tiering is designed for data with unknown or changing access patterns. This access pattern is known in advance.

  • CS3 One Zone-IA

    Incorrect

One Zone-IA keeps data in a single Availability Zone and is meant for data you can re-create; these records cannot be re-created.

  • DS3 Glacier Deep Archive

    Correct

Deep Archive is designed for long-lived archive data accessed less than once a year, with retrieval times of hours.

Choose the storage class from the access pattern: how often the data is read, how fast it must come back, and whether it can be re-created.

Question 2 · choose 1

Twenty Linux EC2 instances spread across three Availability Zones must read and write the same set of files at the same time. The storage should grow and shrink automatically as files are added and removed. Which storage service fits?

  1. AAn Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS) volume
  2. BEC2 instance store
  3. CS3 Glacier Deep Archive
  4. DAmazon Elastic File System (Amazon EFS)
Show the answer and why
  • AAn Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS) volume

    Incorrect

An EBS volume is block storage in a single Availability Zone, attached to instances in that zone. It is not a shared file system for instances in three zones.

  • BEC2 instance store

    Incorrect

Instance store is temporary block storage on the host of one instance. Its data is lost when the instance stops, and other instances cannot use it.

  • CS3 Glacier Deep Archive

    Incorrect

Deep Archive is a storage class for archives read less than once a year, with retrieval times of hours — not a live, shared file system.

  • DAmazon Elastic File System (Amazon EFS)

    Correct

EFS is serverless, elastic file storage over NFS that grows and shrinks automatically. Many compute instances can access it in parallel, and Regional file systems store data across multiple Availability Zones.

Shared files for many Linux instances across zones means a network file system; on AWS that is Amazon EFS. Block storage belongs to one instance at a time.

Question 3 · choose 1

A company writes application logs to Amazon S3. After 30 days the logs are rarely read and should move to a cheaper storage class, and after one year they must be deleted. The company wants this to happen automatically. What should it configure?

  1. AS3 Lifecycle configuration
  2. BS3 Versioning
  3. CS3 Cross-Region Replication
  4. DS3 Transfer Acceleration
Show the answer and why
  • AS3 Lifecycle configuration

    Correct

Lifecycle rules define transition actions, which move objects to another storage class after a set time, and expiration actions, which delete them when they expire.

  • BS3 Versioning

    Incorrect

Versioning keeps multiple variants of an object so you can recover overwritten or deleted versions. It does not move or expire objects on a schedule.

  • CS3 Cross-Region Replication

    Incorrect

Replication copies objects to a bucket in another Region. It adds copies; it does not tier or delete them.

  • DS3 Transfer Acceleration

    Incorrect

Transfer Acceleration speeds up uploads and downloads over long distances. It has nothing to do with how long objects are kept.

Known aging patterns — hot, then cold, then gone — are what lifecycle rules are for: transition after N days, expire after M days.

Question 4 · choose 1

On-premises application servers use iSCSI block volumes. The company wants the primary data stored in Amazon S3 to cut local storage costs, while frequently accessed data stays on premises for low-latency access. Which service provides this?

  1. AAmazon Elastic File System (Amazon EFS)
  2. BAWS Storage Gateway
  3. CAmazon EBS volumes
  4. DAWS DataSync
Show the answer and why
  • AAmazon Elastic File System (Amazon EFS)

    Incorrect

EFS is a shared NFS file system. It does not present iSCSI block volumes with a local cache to on-premises servers.

  • BAWS Storage Gateway

    Correct

Storage Gateway connects an on-premises appliance to cloud storage. Its Volume Gateway cached volumes store data in Amazon S3 and keep frequently accessed data locally for low-latency access.

  • CAmazon EBS volumes

    Incorrect

EBS volumes attach to EC2 instances in AWS, not to servers in a company's data center.

  • DAWS DataSync

    Incorrect

DataSync moves data between storage systems. It does not keep a local cache in front of cloud storage for ongoing use.

Cached file and volume access for on-premises applications, backed by the cloud, is the hybrid storage job Storage Gateway is built for.

Question 5 · choose 1

A company wants one place to define backup schedules and retention periods for its Amazon EBS volumes, Amazon RDS databases, DynamoDB tables and EFS file systems, and to have the backups run automatically. Which service fits?

  1. AAWS Backup
  2. BS3 Lifecycle rules
  3. CAWS Config
  4. DAmazon EBS volume Multi-Attach
Show the answer and why
  • AAWS Backup

    Correct

AWS Backup centralizes and automates data protection across AWS services, using backup plans that set when backups run and how long they are kept.

  • BS3 Lifecycle rules

    Incorrect

Lifecycle rules move or expire objects in an S3 bucket. They do not back up EBS, RDS, DynamoDB or EFS.

  • CAWS Config

    Incorrect

AWS Config records resource configurations and checks them against rules. It does not take backups.

  • DAmazon EBS volume Multi-Attach

    Incorrect

Attaching a volume to more than one instance is about access, not protection; it creates no backup copies.

Centralized, policy-driven backups across services are AWS Backup; each service's own snapshot features still exist underneath.
