Terms of Service

These terms apply to bytepatterns.com. By using the site you agree to them. They are deliberately plain.

1. What BytePatterns is

BytePatterns publishes free, interactive lessons and practice problems for learning algorithms, data structures and system design. The material is educational. It is not a guarantee of any interview, exam or job outcome.

2. Your account

An account is optional and free. You are responsible for the email address you sign in with. You may delete your account at any time from your account page, which removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

3. Purchases and refunds

Premium is not on sale yet; until it is, the parts of this section about Premium do not apply to anyone.

BytePatterns Premium is sold through Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy is the seller of your order: it takes the payment, charges VAT or sales tax where your country requires it, issues the receipt and the invoice, and processes refunds. Your card details go to Lemon Squeezy and never to us.

Prices are in USD and include VAT where applicable. The amount shown at checkout is the amount you pay; if your bank converts it to another currency, that conversion is between you and your bank.

Lifetime ($49) is a single payment for access to every lesson and practice problem, including modules published later, for as long as BytePatterns is online.

Yearly ($29) is a single payment for the same access for 366 days from the day of purchase. It is not a subscription: it does not renew by itself, and nothing is charged again unless you buy another year. While a Yearly plan is active you can move to Lifetime by paying the full Lifetime price; the unused part of the year is not credited.

AWS exam packs. An exam pack is sold for one AWS certification, through Lemon Squeezy in the same way as Premium. It is a single payment for the paid timed practice exams we publish for that certification, attached to the account you buy it with, for as long as BytePatterns is online. When AWS replaces the exam with a new version, the pack also opens our practice exams for that next version at no extra cost. The list price depends on the exam's level — $19 for Foundational, $29 for Associate, $39 for Professional and Specialty — and each pack's price is shown on its certification page. The lessons, the sample questions on every task page and the first full practice exam of each certification stay free and are not part of a pack.

Launch prices. Until 31 Dec 2026, 23:59:59 UTC, exam packs cost 30% less than their list price, rounded to whole dollars. The price is set when you start a checkout; a checkout started after that moment is charged the list price.

No pass guarantee. An exam pack is practice material we write from AWS's published exam guides and documentation, never from real exam content. A score on it does not predict your result on the real exam, and we do not promise that you will pass. BytePatterns is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Amazon Web Services.

Refunds. Within 14 days of a purchase, email hello@bytepatterns.com from the address you bought with and you get the full amount back. The refund is issued through Lemon Squeezy. When it goes through, the access it paid for ends: the lessons and problems past the free ones lock again. The same happens when a Yearly plan runs out. Your progress is not deleted in either case.

Refunds for exam packs work the same way, with no conditions: within 14 days of buying, ask and you get the full amount back. When the refund goes through, the paid practice exams of that pack lock again. Your results from those exams are not deleted. Deleting your account deletes your packs with it, and is not a refund.

Deleting your account deletes the record of your plan along with everything else, as the Privacy Policy describes, so Premium ends with it. Deleting an account is not a refund: if you are still within the refund window, ask for the refund first.

Receipts and invoices come from Lemon Squeezy by email, and your past orders are in its customer portal, which your account page links to once you have bought. Questions about a purchase go to hello@bytepatterns.com. Nothing in this section limits the rights the consumer law of your country gives you.

4. Acceptable use

Do not attack, overload or scrape the service, do not attempt to access other people's accounts, and do not use the site to break the law. We may suspend access that does any of these.

5. Content and copyright

The lessons, animations, problems, videos and text on this site are owned by BytePatterns and protected by copyright. You may use them for your own learning and link to them freely. Copying them to another site or product requires written permission. Code that we publish under an open-source licence on GitHub is governed by that licence.

6. No warranty

The site is provided as is. We work to keep every lesson correct and every page available, but we make no warranty that it will be error-free or uninterrupted, and we are not liable for losses that arise from relying on it, to the extent the law allows.

7. Changes and contact

We may update these terms; the date above changes when we do. Questions go to hello@bytepatterns.com.
